Route 4/ Suitland Parkway Interchange Construction Meeting

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is starting construction on the $78 million interchange project at MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) and Suitland Parkway in Prince George’s County. MDOT SHA is hosting a public meeting on September 14, 2017 to discuss project details.

The new diamond interchange will reduce congestion at the busy intersection. The project also includes realigning the Pennsylvania Avenue Service Road and Armstrong Lane, reconstruction of on- and off-ramps to Joint Base Andrews, construction of a new signalized intersection at Presidential Parkway and Central Park Drive, and widening of the existing bridge on Suitland Parkway. The work is expected to be complete by the end of the summer of 2021.

Preliminary work for the project includes new pavement markings to align the roadway with corresponding work zone configurations, setting concrete barriers and utility relocations. Motorists can expect off-peak daytime and nighttime lane shifts during construction. Drivers are asked to remain alert for work crews and changing traffic patterns; safety measures will be in place for the duration of the project.

The public meeting will present maps and other exhibits of the current design (see back for meeting details). The meeting will provide an opportunity for project team members to answer project-related questions. You may arrive at any time during the meeting hours and walk through at your own pace. There will be no formal presentation.
