Downtown Parking Meter Upgrade Project

Official Notice: Town of Upper Marlboro Downtown Parking Meter Upgrade

The Board of Town Commissioners for the Town of Upper Marlboro has partnered with IPS Parking to upgrade the Town's on-street single space parking meters in Downtown Upper Marlboro. The current Town-owned meters along Main Street, Pratt Street, Water Street, and Elm Street are outdated and do not accept credit cards. The Board has chosen to replace and upgrade these decades-old parking meters to new ones that accept credit cards and are much more user-friendly. Please see the description of the new meters to be installed below.

Governor Oden Bowie Drive: In addition to updating the existing Town of Upper Marlboro meters along Main Street, the Town will also be expanding its parking authority to the 73 parking spaced along Governor Oden Bowie Drive. These spaces, previously operated by Prince George's County Revenue Authority, were turned over to the Town on July 1st, 2019 in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Town and the County. All County parking meter equipment was removed and there is currently free street parking on the roadway until new meters are installed.

Estimated Project Timeline: Monday, July 21st, 2019- Friday, August 2nd, 2019

New Parking Meter Rate Effective July 1, 2019: $2.50 per hour Monday-Saturday
