Schoolhouse Pond Stormwater Upgrade

Clean Water Partnership Background
Prince George’s County, Department of the Environment, in alliance with the Clean Water Partnership (CWP) has been working on the planning and design of a storm water quality improvement project near 14800 Governor Oden Bowie Drive, also known as Schoolhouse Pond. The Clean Water Partnership is a Public-Private Partnership (P3) between Prince George’s County and Corvias. The CWP is the first of its kind to design, build, finance, operate and maintain urban storm water infrastructure to meet Municipal Separate Sewer System (MS4) regulatory requirements and is committed to retrofit up to 4,000 impervious acres.

PROJECT DETAILS
This project is being completed to meet regulatory requirements for treating storm water within Prince George’s County. The CWP program will install, upgrade, and maintain three forebays and an outfall. The forebays will capture excess sediment and other pollutants prior to releasing storm water into the pond site, as well as provide better drainage to the outfall structure. Pedestrian access to the trail path will be restricted during construction.

Construction is estimated to start in late Spring 2019 and will be complete by Winter 2019, weather permitting
