Town is Hiring Experienced Police Officers

The Upper Marlboro Police Department is currently accepting applications for Sworn Police Officers who are currently certified in the State of Maryland (MPCTC Certified only). We currently do not have any Comparative Compliance opportunities. The Upper Marlboro Police Department is seeking women and men that exhibit integrity, honesty, sound judgement, reliability, and the ability to apply principles of community-oriented policing and a desire to serve the resident of the Town of Upper Marlboro. Examples of Duties
Police Officers patrol assigned areas in a vehicle or on foot; responds to calls involving criminal activity; takes initial statements from victims and witnesses; responds to traffic accidents and pedestrian incidents; issues traffic citations, warnings and make arrest; conducts law enforcement and peacekeeping activities; responsible for crime prevention; collect and/or preserve evidence; parking enforcement; proactive patrolling of the Town; apprehension and arrest (or citation or warning) of criminal law violators; testify in court; assist with demonstrations; advises citizens and business owners on crime prevention and security measures; participate in community meetings, events and parades.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently a certified police officer (MPCTC Certified)
  • U.S citizen
  • High School Graduate
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Police Officer
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License

Benefits
Starting annual salary is $53,500 depending on qualifications & experience.
Benefits include vacation leave, sick leave, health insurance, dental and vision insurance and retirement pension plan through the State of Maryland, and take-home car after probationary period.
