The newly elected Board of Commissioners for the Town of Upper Marlboro will hold a Special/Organizational Meeting on Monday, January 13th, 2020 at 8:00 PM to decide amongst themselves who will serve as President, and as Treasurer, for their two-year term. The meeting WILL include a closed session. Below are the Sections from the Town Charter in reference to this Organizational Meeting:
Section 82–6. (Meetings of the Board). The newly elected Board shall meet at 8:00 p.m. on the first Monday following its election for the purpose of organization, after which the Board shall meet regularly at such times as may be prescribed by its rules but not less frequently than once each month.
Section 82–13. (Selection). At their organizational meeting, a majority of the Commissioners shall elect one of their members President. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Board in accordance with the accepted rules of parlimentary [parliamentary] procedure, except that he may vote on any question before the Board.
