Town of Upper Marlboro, Election Information

Election Day:  Tuesday, November 7, 2023

Polling Location: Town Hall, 14211 School Lane, Upper Marlboro.

Poll Hours: 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM

Voter Registration Information:

If you are already registered to vote with the County, then you are automatically registered to vote in the Town of Upper Marlboro. If you are not, or care not, to be registered with the County Board of Elections, you can still register with the Town ONLY.

Voter Registration Deadline: Prince George's County: Monday, October 9, 2023

You can download the voter registration form from the Maryland State Board of Elections. Mail your form to the Board of Elections, 16201 Trade Zone Avenue, Suite 108, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774, or deliver it in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can also fill out the form in person at the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), 10251 Central Avenue, Largo, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday or 11760 Baltimore Avenue, Beltsville, MD 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Absentee Ballot Information:

If you are a registered voter of the Town and will not be present on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 or are unable to physically come to the Town Hall, you can request an absentee ballot.  An absentee voter application will be mailed to you, or, drop it off at Town Hall.  You may request an absentee ballot application starting on Tuesday, October 6, 2023.  The deadline to return your absentee ballot is before the polls close on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 7:00 p.m.

Please mail your written request for an Absentee Ballot with your name and return address to the Board of Supervisors of Elections, P.O. Box 280, Upper Marlboro, MD 20773 and, upon approval, a ballot and instructions will be mailed to you. Or, you can arrange upon request, to pick-up your materials at Town Hall during working hours, on any weekday that is not a holiday at: 14211 School Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.

Candidate Information:

In order to register as a candidate, you must meet the following conditions as set forth in the Town Charter, under Section 82-4. (Qualification of Commissioners), candidates:

- Shall have resided in the Town for at least two years immediately preceding their election;

- Shall be qualified voters of the Town; and

- Shall be at least 25 years of age.

If you are interested in running, complete a Candidate Packet and submit to the Town Clerk by Monday, October 9, 2023 by Midnight  (packets must be in the black mailbox outside Town Hall by midnight since Monday, October 9, 2023 is a federal holiday).  Forms can be obtained from the Town website, or by pick-up from Town Hall by appointment only.  

Election Judge Information:

The Board of Supervisors of Elections allows registered voters to assist them during election day. If you are interested, please send a written statement to the Board of Supervisors of Elections: P.O. Box 280 Upper Marlboro, MD 20773, or, drop it off at Town Hall at: 14211 School Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Although there is no deadline, it would be helpful for the Board to know this as soon as possible.

Poll Watchers:

If you would like to be a Poll Watcher for a Candidate, please contact the candidate and ask the candidate to request and fill out a “Watcher” Form available at the Town Hall. The poll watcher must be a registered voter. Mail the form to the Board of Supervisors of Elections: P.O. Box 280 Upper Marlboro, MD 20773, or, arrange to drop it off at Town Hall at: 14211 School Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.
